Lower Eyelid Correction at F&A Medical Center

Starting from €750

A lower eyelid correction, also known as lower blepharoplasty, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at reducing excess skin and under-eye bags. This treatment addresses skin laxity, fluid retention, and protruding fat pads, resulting in a refreshed and more youthful appearance.

What to Expect from a Lower Eyelid Correction

During the procedure, our experienced plastic surgeon carefully marks the excess skin. The treatment takes approximately 90 minutes and is performed using diathermy to minimize blood loss. A precise incision is made along the lower lash line, allowing access to remove or reposition excess skin and fat. The incision is then closed with fine sutures to ensure clean healing. You will receive a cooling mask for home use, and the stitches are removed one week after the procedure.

Recovery and Aftercare

Cooling

Cool the area during the first three days for ten minutes every hour using the cooling mask or frozen peas, placing gauze between your skin and the cooling pack.

Rest

Limit physical activity during the first days to reduce pain and swelling and promote healing.

Sleeping

Sleep on your back to prevent pressure on the incision sites; a neck pillow may be helpful. Avoid sleeping on your stomach for the first two weeks.

Pressure-Increasing Activities

Avoid bending, lifting heavy objects, and sports during the first two weeks to prevent fluid-related swelling.

Wound Care

Keep your face dry while showering. Avoid makeup and tanning beds during the first weeks. After the stitches are removed, you may start applying our specially developed scar cream.

Sunlight

Protect your scars from direct sunlight by wearing sunglasses and using SPF 20 sunscreen. Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible during recovery.

Contact Lenses

Do not use contact lenses for two weeks after the procedure; glasses are allowed.

Medication

Avoid aspirin or ibuprofen from 10 days before the procedure until 7 days after. Paracetamol is permitted.

Arnica

Do not use Arnica drops or pills around the procedure period. Arnica cream may be used on the lower eyelids and cheeks, but avoid the treated area itself.

Cleaning the Wounds

Gently clean the area around your eyes using a slightly damp cotton swab, without wetting the adhesive strips.

Results and Follow-Up

The stitches are removed after one week, at which point significant improvement is usually visible. Full healing and the final result are typically achieved within 12 to 16 weeks. During the final check-up, we take an “after” photo to document your progress.
